A Mile In My Shoes Scholarship

Sisters, Wesley and Kyla, created this scholarship opportunity for incoming high school seniors with the goal of continuing education around the importance of positive body and self image especially as a teen. The idea behind this scholarship is to give applicants a chance to share who they are and why they are important. This is something that will be asked of them often in the future as they prepare to apply for more scholarships and/or jobs. The scholarship combined art show has been a three- part process. Starting with creative writing piece “How you see.” Then each applicant with the photographers designed a photo shoot together “How you want to be seen.” And to conclude the process is the art show where each portrait was displayed “How we see you.”

Students from Animas High, Aztec High, Bayfield High, Big Picture High, Colorado Connections Academy, Durango High, and Ignacio High have participated in Photo Divine’s annual A Mile In My Shoes Scholarship and Photography Show.
